Coniunctio Ignis
This is ecstatic annihilation and rebirth. Total surrender where two become one incandescent whole, leaving only radiance.
A Poem Infused with Alchemical Union.
She reaches into the burning heart
palms open, fingers plunging through living flame.
Skin crackles like parchment in the athanor,
veins alight with liquid gold.
Tears spring forth, silver and sacred,
hissing as they meet the molten core
each droplet a libation, dissolving the last veil
between her and the divine hunger.
Your wounds fit into mine
like Sol into Luna, sulfur into mercury
click.
The chambers of the chest swing wide,
revealing the prima materia of longing.
I step barefoot into your inferno,
letting the crimson heart seal around me.
No longer two.
No longer I or Thou.
Only the roaring velvet of coniunctio
where flesh melts into essence,
where I drink you whole:
smoke of secrets, scorched honey of soul,
starfire and salt and the sweet ash of surrender.
Come closer, my beloved.
Let the flames lick higher between us.
Let my lips trace the white-hot arteries of your heart,
slow as mercury rising, deliberate as sulfur’s kiss.
Feel me pull you deeper
tongue to flame, breath to blaze,
until every heartbeat echoes inside the other,
until we are the Rebis, the hermaphroditic rose,
one glowing body born of perfect fusion.
The heart throbs wider,
cracks spreading like golden lightning,
spilling rivers of liquid ruby and diamond sparks.
Our silhouettes entwine inside the blaze
limbs braided in molten silk,
sweat rising as incense,
gasps feeding the wildfire into ecstasy.
Orange tongues caress and consume,
turning every nerve into a hymn of transmutation.
We lose ourselves only here
in this sacred, sultry annihilation,
where opposites die and are reborn as One.
No past patterns.
No separate selves.
Only the eternal now of the Chymical Wedding:
two souls forged into a single incandescent Stone,
radiant,
undying,
divinely devoured.
When the world gazes upon us,
it will witness only glory
a single, living heart of fire,
wild and whole,
consuming itself in endless glowing union
leaving in its wake
a warmth that lingers on the skin for lifetimes,
a golden afterglow in the blood,
the memory of having been utterly,
perfectly,
alchemically
one.
This poem was inspired by the lovely imi, and her visual writing prompt, a flaming heart you can see in the image above the poem. The burning heart is a potent alchemical emblem, the vessel of passion where raw desire (prima materia) is calcined, purified, and transmuted. Flames represent the secret fire of eros/desire that consumes and elevates. A glowing, cracked heart mirrors the vessel splitting open to release divine essence. This is not mere romance. It is ecstatic annihilation and rebirth: total surrender where two become one incandescent whole, leaving only radiance.

The alchemy was never
about the gold.
It was about what survives
the burning —
not unchanged,
but more itself
than before.

Beautifully rich and erotic but for me the most inspiring part was your amazing use of language to build atmosphere and depth. Gorgeous
